Economy and Society in Rural Scotland: a conference in the memory of Malcolm Gray
Plenary speakers include Emeritus Professor Eric Richards, Flinders University, and Emeritus Professor Jim Hunter, University of the Highlands and Islands.
We invite proposals for papers on themes such as, but not limited to, the economic history of rural Scotland; the fishing industry; clearance and 'Improvement'; land and landscapes; industry in rural Scotland; social histories of rural Scotland; the impact of Malcolm Gray's work on Highland historiography.
Abstracts (c. 250 words) for individual 20 minute presentations or panel sessions of up to three speakers will be considered and should be submitted by Friday 19 July 2013 to Dr Iain Hutchison. All submissions must contain: a) Title of submission, b) Conference sub-theme, c) Name of speaker(s), d) Affiliation of speaker(s), e) Address(es) of speakers(s), f) E-mail address(es) of speaker(s), g) Abstract (250-350 words) for each paper, h) Short biography containing employment, research interests, publications, i) Audio-visual equipment required. All abstracts should be submitted by e-mail in Microsoft Word format. All submissions will be reviewed by the Conference Committee and those successful will be notified within two weeks after the deadline for submission.
