British Agricultural History Society
Postgraduate Workshop on Research in Rural History

Workshop for Postgraduate Research Students and recent Postdoctoral Researchers on the history of the rural economy and society of Britain, Ireland and Europe, including agricultural, environmental, landscape and local and regional history.

Organised by the British Agricultural History Society (BAHS), founded in 1952, to promote the study of agricultural history and the history of the rural economy and society

The day will consist of short papers and informal discussion by postgraduates, with contributions by Professor Richard Hoyle, Professor Mark Overton, Dr Nicola Verdon and Professor Jane Whittle, on sources, methodologies and publishing rural history research. The workshop is free to attend but the number of participants is restricted to 18.

If you would like to participate please contact the organiser, Dr James P Bowen, with either a 500 word summary for a 15 minute presentation (for year 2+ PhD researchers) or a 250 word summary for 5 minute presentations (for newly enrolled PhD researchers), and a one-page CV, to be sent as a single document attachment to James by Friday 24 October 2014.

The summaries will be pre-circulated to all participants. Discussion papers from the conference will be published on the BAHS website. The workshop is followed by the BAHS Winter Conference on Saturday 6 December, for details please see: http://www.bahs.org.uk/events.html.
