IS CSS HAS and socio.hu invite scholars to discuss the changing role of food in contemporary European society. The workshop aims at opening space to different approaches of rural studies, economics, cultural studies, and ecology.

The workshop includes but is not limited to the following topics:
- Role of food in rural development;
- Food production and climate change;
- Sustainable food production;
- Food justice;
- Alternative food networks;
- Food in tourism;
- Changing culture of food consumption;
- Self-promotion, local branding by food products;
- Reinterpretation of local identity and rural image through regional food products;
- Regional products and quality assurance;
- Food and local community building;
- New models of producer-consumer relations.
The organizers invite papers based on original empirical research from the following fields of social sciences: sociology, anthropology, economics, social-history, and political sciences.
The workshop provides an opportunity for future research cooperation in forthcoming H2020 calls.
