Closing date for applications: 31 May 2021

Call for Applications:
International researchers (visiting fellows) for the cross-disciplinary visiting programme
Global Talents for Local Transformations – Transformation Processes in Rural Areas

The visiting programme “Global Talents for Local Transformations” was devised in the framework of the Ideas Competition “International Research Marketing”. It is part of the initiative “Research in Germany” and is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

Project Description
The project's primary purpose is to invite excellent international early-career researchers (postdoc level) for a six-month, structured visiting programme at the University of Vechta. The visiting programme will take place from October 31st, 2021, to April 30th, 2022. The visiting scholars receive a monthly scholarship of 1,041.00 € as well as a travel allowance and participate in a cross-disciplinary supporting programme. Through a combination of training, counseling, and networking events, the programme provides them with essential information concerning research funding programmes and landscape in Germany and skills in knowledge transfer.

The visiting scholars will cooperate with a researcher (host) at the University of Vechta and present their research project as part of an interdisciplinary Brown Bag Seminar Series (in English). Moreover, they will have access to a digital platform, where they will be able to post relevant research-related content – also in formats that are more accessible to the broader public – and initiate an interdisciplinary dialogue under the umbrella theme “Transformation Processes in Rural Areas.” The digital platform should encourage an academic dialogue with relevant local social actors.

Application Requirements
International researchers at the postdoc level, from all subject areas relevant to the research foci of the University of Vechta and from all countries, may apply.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate a connection between the research project they are going to pursue during the visiting programme and the umbrella theme “Transformation Processes in Rural Areas”, as well as at least one of the four research foci of the University of Vechta.

Applicants should obtain the support of one researcher (host) of the University of Vechta.

It is recommended that the applicant and host prepare the application together. The application should also include a plan outlining the cooperation between visiting researcher and host of the University of Vechta (please, see below).
