The agricultural and rural history of Ireland has been of central importance to the Irish story and Teagasc and the SSRC are delighted to host this event as a platform to promote both new understanding of this history and to demonstrate how an understanding of this history is crucial to making the right decisions in contemporary policy-making.

“Mícheál Ó Fathartaigh’s pioneering new book on the Irish agricultural advisory services – and their impact on agriculture and the rural economy and society – is a major contribution to our understanding of agricultural and rural change during a period spanning more than a century,” stated Dr Tony Varley of the Social Sciences Research Centre at NUI Galway
