Am Institut für Wirtschafts- und Sozialgeschichte der Historisch-Kulturwissenschaftliche Fakultät sucht Ass-Prof. Federico D'Onofrio zwei Universitätsassistent:innen (prae doc - PhD.-Student) im Bereich Sozial- bzw. Wirtschaftsgeschichte:
- 0,75 wiss. Mitarb. (Referenznummer: 12952) und
- 0,75 wiss. Mitarb. (Referenznummer: 12953).
Erfolgreiche Kandidat:innen werden dem Team des Projekts "DATAREV, Leading the first data revolution in European agriculture: farm accountancy data and their impact 1870–1945", beitreten. Das Projekt untersucht die Rechnungslegung als entscheidendes Instrument der landwirtschaftlichen Modernisierung Europas. Neben dem Abschluss ihrer/seiner Dissertation wird die/der erfolgreiche Kandidat:in zum Aufbau einer Datenbank mit Daten landwirtschaftlicher Buchführungen beitragen und den Fall von betriebswirtschaftlichen Buchführungsdaten der Schweiz, Österreichs und Deutschlands untersuchen. Einstufung gemäß Kollektivvertrag: Paragraph 48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) bei 30 Stunden/Woche. Darüber hinaus können anrechenbare Berufserfahrungen die Einstufung und damit das Entgelt bestimmen.
Beschäftigungsdauer: 3 Jahre/e (kann auf bis zu 4 Jahre verlängert werden).
Ihre Aufgaben:
Teilnahme am DATAREV-Projekt, einschließlich:
- Abschluss einer Doktorarbeit über die Verbreitung der Betriebsbuchhaltung - Wir erwarten, dass der/die erfolgreiche Kandidat:in innerhalb von 12 Monaten eine Dissertationsvereinbarung unterzeichnet.
- Unterstützung bei der Erstellung der Datenbank mit historischen Daten landwirtschaftlicher Buchführungen
- Mitarbeit an Publikationen / wissenschaftlichen Artikeln / Präsentationen wie vorgegeben vom PI des DATAREV-Projekts
- Unterstützung bei der Organisation von Besprechungen, Konferenzen, Symposien
Ihr Profil:
- Master-Abschluss (oder gleichwertiger Abschluss) in Geschichte, Social- oder Wirtschaftsgeschichte oder gleichwertige Qualifikation mit überdurchschnittlichen Noten und sehr guten Englischkenntnissen (schriftlich und mündlich) wird geschätzt
- das Interesse an quantitativen Methoden für die Wirtschaftsgeschichte wird als relevant angesehen
- darüber hinaus können Kenntnisse in weiteren für das jeweilige Forschungsvorhaben relevanten Sprachen erforderlich sein

At the Department of Economic and Social History of the Vienna Faculty of History, Assistant Prof. Federico D’Onofrio is looking for a University Assistant prae doc (Ph.D. student) in the field of economic and social or business history. Successful candidates will join the team of the project “DATAREV, Leading the first data revolution in European agriculture: farm accountancy data and their impact 1870–1945”. The project investigates accounting as a crucial tool of Europe’s agricultural modernization. For more information on the project, check the website https://www.datarev.univie.ac.at.
In addition to completing their dissertation, the successful candidate will contribute to the construction of a database of farm accountancy data and investigate the case of farm accountancy data of Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: paragraph 48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade. Duration of employment: 3 year/s (can be extended up to 4 years) and 30 hours/week.
Job Description:
- Participation in DATAREV project, including:
- Completing a doctoral dissertation of the spread of farm accounting - We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12 months.
- Supporting the creation of the database of historical farm accountancy data
- Participating in publications / academic articles / presentations as defined by the PI of the DATAREV project
- Helping with the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums.
Profile:
- completed Master's degree (or equivalent) in History, Economic or Business History or equivalent qualification
- Master's degree in History, Economic or Business History, with grades above average. A very good command of English (written and oral) is required. Knowledge of quantitative methods for economic history will be considered relevant
- fluency in German is not a necessary pre-requisite
