Between Eden and Fall:
Common Land in Early Modern and Modern Western Europe
Between April 23 and June 18, the ERC project IberLAND (Leibniz Universität Hannover) will host the Fifth Research Colloquium titled “Between Eden and Fall: Common Land in Early Modern and Modern Western Europe”. This lecture series aims to provide an overview of common land in the early modern and modern ages across various Western European regions through the work of five senior researchers in the field.
The series intends to offer insights into common land during the early modern and modern periods in various Western European regions, including the Netherlands, England, Germany, Spain, and Portugal. It aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the phenomenon of the commons, the importance of historical analysis of common land tenure, and the insights and reflections that knowledge of the past can offer.
The full program and statement for the lecture series can be found at https://iberland.eu/events/lecture-series-between-eden-and-fall/. The lectures will take place at the Leibnizhaus (Hannover) and will also be broadcast via Zoom.
